BAROMETER Informat.ro - INSCOP Research, Edition IX, April 2026

Chapter 2: Voting Intentions for Parliamentary Elections

According to BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research, edition IX, conducted between April 1-7, 2026, AUR remains the clear leader in the preferences of Romanians for the parliamentary elections, although it continues to fall below the 40% threshold of voting intentions.

BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research is a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the think tank Strategic Thinking Group.

BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research aims to bring to the public's attention topics of interest to stimulate national conversations about various subjects and essential public policies for the present and future of Romania, based on the opinions of Romanians in partnership with think tanks and prestigious academic institutions. It is an initiative through which we aim to contribute to the strengthening of democracy by using scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.

Methodology: Data was collected between April 1-7, 2026. Research method: interview via questionnaire. Data was collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple random sample volume of 1100 people, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 3%, at a confidence level of 95%.

The graphical presentation of the data is available here.

Remus Ștefureac, director INSCOP Research: "AUR reaches its lowest score in INSCOP measurements conducted after the presidential elections in May 2025 (37%), losing 4 percentage points compared to the beginning of 2026. At the same time, a new phenomenon is observed this month, which seems more pronounced compared to other measurements, namely the significant increase in the differences between the voting intentions of respondents who choose a party and those who choose a party and declare that they would definitely go to vote (mobilized voters). For example, in the case of PSD, there is a difference of 3.5 percentage points between those who choose PSD (20.1%) and the mobilized voters of PSD (16.6%). In comparison, PNL, USR, and AUR have more mobilized voters, while PSD and UDMR have fewer mobilized voters at this moment."

Estimated Participation in Parliamentary Voting

On a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 means "definitely not" going to vote and 10 means "definitely yes" going to vote, 15.8% of Romanians chose 1, 1% chose 2, 0.7% chose 3, 0.4% chose 4, 4.8% chose 5, 0.5% chose 6, 3.2% chose 7, 3.6% indicated 8, 2.5% 9, and 64.9% indicated 10. 2.6% do not know or do not answer this question.
