According to the Informat.ro - INSCOP Research BAROMETER, 2nd edition, conducted between June 20-26, 2025, 85% of Romanians consider themselves religious.
The Informat.ro - INSCOP Research poll is a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research commissioned by the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the think-tank Strategic Thinking Group.

It is an approach through which we aim to contribute to the consolidation of democracy through the use of scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.
Methodology: Data were collected between June 20-26, 2025. Research method: questionnaire interview. Data were collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), the simple stratified sample size was 1150 persons, representative by significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 years and over. The maximum permissible error of the data is ± 2.9% at 95% confidence.
Remus Ștefureac, General Manager INSCOP Research: "Romanians' religiosity is cultural and identity-based, a fact underlined by the very large majority of 85% who consider themselves religious. The practicing religiosity is lower, but significant, given that 30.6% of the population say they go to church at least once a week. Religious observance is higher among the population in rural areas, small and medium-sized towns. Also, PSD and AUR voters declare that they go to church more often than PNL and especially USR voters."
Darie Cristea - Research Director INSCOP Research: "The current data of the Informat.ro - INSCOP Research Barometer confirms the image we have on the religiosity of Romanians. Romanians consider themselves religious people in the vast majority. Of course, when we talk about religiosity as a sociological indicator measured by an opinion poll, we do not imagine that Romanians are necessarily better and more pious than other Europeans, for example. On the contrary, our study allows us to note that Romanians overwhelmingly define themselves as religious people and do not reject the idea of religion and its association with religiosity. This attitudinal profile of Romanians is also noticeable from a behavioral point of view: 47% of Romanians say that they go to church once a month or more often. And even if this were not completely true, the simple fact that almost half of the population considers going to church a desirable behavior tells us a lot about the existence of this religiosity. Yes, there is a difference here from many Western European societies, where disinterest in religion and atheism are fairly well represented as attitudes, both individual and public."
