During the period of December 8-14, there were 99,034 reported respiratory infections, 22% more than the previous week. Among these, 5,701 cases were of clinical flu, an increase of almost 90% compared to the previous week. Compared to the same period of last season, the number of flu cases has increased more than four times. The most illnesses were in Bucharest and the counties of Botoșani, Iași, Suceava, Cluj, and Neamț, indicating a widespread dissemination of the virus. Although the incidence of respiratory infections has exceeded the average of recent seasons, INSP reported that no deaths caused by flu have been recorded. By December 14, over 1.22 million flu vaccinations had been administered.
