The government has announced the inclusion of the 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine on the list of free medicines. It will be available free of charge to people with a doctor's recommendation.

This vaccine is particularly recommended for children, the elderly, the chronically ill and the immunosuppressed. The decision to include the vaccine on the free list was taken at the proposal of the National Vaccination Committee, taking into account the national epidemiological particularities.
