Diabetes experts have identified a new form of diabetes associated with malnutrition, distinct from types 1 and 2. It affects young people, often under 30 years old, who are generally undernourished. It is estimated that 25 million people suffer from this condition, especially in poor countries. Although the concept was abandoned by the WHO in 1999, recent studies from various countries confirm the existence of this form. Treating it remains a challenge, and solutions involve improving access to nutritious food.
