An ECDC report highlights that millions of people in Europe unknowingly have hepatitis B or C, increasing the risk of liver disease and cancer. About 3.2 million have hepatitis B and 1.8 million have hepatitis C, but most are undiagnosed. Public health authorities are urging increased testing, vaccination and treatment to prevent a medical crisis. Hepatitis C can be cured and hepatitis B can be managed, but access to care remains essential.
