The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, stated that the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) recently requested new documents in the case regarding the orders for the anti-COVID vaccine. Rogobete explained that prosecutors have periodically requested clarifications regarding the contracts concluded by Romanian authorities for the purchase of vaccines, which suggests that the investigation is active.
During a broadcast on Antena 3, he was asked about possible measures against those responsible for excessive vaccine orders, stating that his role is to ensure the introduction of necessary medications into the healthcare system. Rogobete mentioned that DNA requested documents last year as well, indicating that the case is not closed. He emphasized that administrative and legal responsibility lies with the DNA, not the Minister of Health. He also criticized previous decisions regarding the purchase of 39 million vaccine doses, considering them unjustified from a medical standpoint. Rogobete added that the bill for these decisions has fallen on the Romanian people.
