The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has announced for the first time a daily dose considered safe for cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound extracted from cannabis. This decision is significant for the regulation of CBD products in Europe, establishing a more conservative threshold than in other countries, such as the United Kingdom or Switzerland. EFSA has calculated a provisional dose of 0.0275 mg of CBD per kilogram of body weight, equivalent to approximately 2 mg per day for a 70 kg adult.

This limit applies to dietary supplements with a purity of at least 98% and excludes vulnerable populations. EFSA emphasizes that there are uncertainties regarding the long-term effects of CBD, and this threshold may be revised based on future studies.
