In the last week, the online space has been dominated by a combination of internal political crisis, corruption cases, and targeted adjustments of the state in relation to citizens, against the backdrop of increasingly visible social pressure. From the resignation of senator Victoria Stoiciu from PSD, in protest against the collaboration with AUR for a motion of censure, to the actions of DNA Cluj against the "local barons", public discourse has been strongly marked by the theme of integrity and political responsibility. At the same time, institutional reactions, from the aid promised by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for Soveja and the continuation of the "Noua Casă" program, to the economic message of President Nicușor Dan at the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Dubrovnik and the emergency interventions of Radu Miruță and Tánczos Barna in the fields of Transport and Agriculture, outline the image of a state trying to simultaneously manage a political crisis, an active anti-corruption agenda, and high social expectations.

An evaluation conducted through the NewsVibe platform, which integrates artificial intelligence technologies for analyzing content from the media and social networks, indicated the publication of 43,031 materials about internal politics during this period, from relevant web sources, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok in Romania. The processed data revealed ten entities that benefited from an intensification of their presence in the digital environment, analyzing both the elements that underpinned this growth and the contribution of online channels to the dissemination and reinforcement of messages.

Political topics on the rise

Political Crisis and Resignations from PSD: The resignation of senator Victoria Stoiciu from PSD, following the announcement of collaboration between PSD and AUR for a motion of censure, generated a wave of negative reactions. Victoria Stoiciu cited the refusal to "endorse the normalization of fascism". This rupture highlights significant internal tensions within PSD and the negative impact of the alliance with AUR. The prefects of Galați and Suceava, including Traian Andronachi, resigned at the call of Sorin Grindeanu, indicating a political realignment in the context of the governmental crisis.

Anti-Corruption Fight and Judicial Control: The National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA), through Territorial Service Cluj, has carried out extensive actions in corruption cases. Dinu Iancu Sălăjanu, president of the Sălaj County Council and PNL member, has been placed under judicial control for abuse of office, along with other individuals. The investigation targets suspicions of corruption and acts assimilated to corruption at the level of the Sălaj and Bistrița-Năsăud county councils.

Condemnation Decision of Vladimir Plahotniuc: Former Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc has been sentenced to 19 years in prison in the "bank fraud" case for creating and leading a criminal organization, fraud, and money laundering. He has also been ordered to pay significant damages to the state.

Government's Reaction to the Fire in Soveja: Following the devastating fire in Soveja, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that the Government will allocate aid to affected families. This rapid response to a natural disaster generated a positive sentiment in the online space, highlighting the role of the state in supporting communities.

Continuation of the "Noua Casă" Program: The Ministry of Finance has proposed the continuation of the "Noua Casă" program this year, with a guarantee ceiling of 500 million lei. This decision comes against the backdrop of a constant demand for housing.

Nicușor Dan's Economic Message at the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Dubrovnik: Externally, President Nicușor Dan is trying to balance the internal political crisis through an active agenda at the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Dubrovnik, where Romania is presented as a future regional hub for infrastructure and energy. From Dubrovnik, the head of state announced the memorandum between the Port of Constanța and the Port of Rijeka, spoke about restarting the Petrotel refinery, and conveyed the message that "Romania has made significant steps for the development of its economy", using the multilateral framework to strengthen its economic and strategic profile in front of European partners.

Radu Miruță in the role of Interim Minister of Transport: At the level of sectoral public policies, interim Minister of Transport Radu Miruță postponed the implementation of the order to increase subway ticket prices to 7 lei, requesting additional data and conditioning the discussion on a reduction of expenses at Metrorex, while, in parallel, he criticized the situation of the new PESA trains held in the Obor Station yard and sought solutions for their introduction into circulation.

Tánczos Barna takes over the interim of the Ministry of Agriculture: Deputy Prime Minister Tánczos Barna spoke openly about the "great probability" of success of the PSD–AUR motion and the precariousness of the government, but draws a red line against AUR, while, in the agricultural area, he publicly assumes the "zero priority" of unblocking subsidies and minimizes the risk of a diesel crisis, attributing the blockages to logistical problems, not a lack of product.
