Over the past 24 hours, online searches by Romanian users have reflected a diverse range of interests, with a focus on public figures, politics, sports and current events.

On the political front, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continued to generate a high volume of searches. Romanian users were interested in the latest military developments, in particular the new Ukrainian offensive, attacks on Russian military infrastructure and the reactions of authorities on both sides. Searches focused on details related to the use of drones, rewards for the civilian population involved in local defense and how the parties involved communicate these events.

Poland's presidential election was another topic of interest for Romanians, particularly the victory of Karol Nawrocki, a Eurosceptic conservative. Nawrocki won by 50.9% in a close contest with his liberal challenger.

Domestically, searches related to the liberalization of the energy market and the work of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) were in the spotlight. Romanians were looking for information about the end of the cap and bill compensation scheme, urges to migrate to more advantageous suppliers, especially Hidroelectrica, and the capacity limits of this supplier.

In addition, Romanians actively sought information about former Prime Minister Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, who was recently acquitted in a corruption case. The searches covered both the court ruling and statements by the former politician, who claimed that he had been wrongly accused and that the decision was a moral reparation.

The appointment of Dan Dungaciu as the AUR party's foreign relations adviser was another topic sought by Romanians.

In the public personalities area, the most searched topic was the death of actor Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing the character John Redcorn in the animated series King of the Hill. Romanians searched for details about the circumstances of his death.

Creases over former politician Cristian Boureanu have increased following allegations of sexual assault against him. Boureanu is reportedly under investigation after a young woman filed a complaint alleging she was sexually assaulted in his home.

On the sports scene, the play-off match between Unirea Slobozia and FC Voluntari was a highlight. Unirea Slobozia managed to win the return match 1-0, tying the overall score at 2-2, and won the penalty shootout 4-3. The team will thus continue in the SuperLiga for the second consecutive season.

In tennis, searches focused on the performance of tennis player Jannik Sinner at the Roland Garros tournament. The Romanians followed his competitive path, his victory against Andrei Rublev and his subsequent matches, in particular his clash with Alexander Bublik, who was also sought in the context of the same tournament.

In the sphere of current events, high interest was paid to the days off during the Pentecost period, but especially to Teacher's Day, celebrated on June 5. Romanians looked for information on whether this day is declared free for pupils and teachers, as well as information on the timing of the mini-vacation at the beginning of June.

The recent eruption of the Etna volcano in Sicily has also caught the attention of Romanians, due to the spectacular natural phenomenon. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, spewed lava and ash, creating an impressive spectacle. Although the volcanic activity was intense, no casualties or significant damage were reported and the authorities have been monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.

Another topic with notable presence in the searches was the city of Taipei, in the context of real estate and infrastructure developments there. The topic attracted attention through content related to urban developments, housing prices and transportation modernization.

Romanians showed significant interest in Operation Jupiter, a large-scale action carried out by the Romanian authorities involving more than 200 searches across the country. The main aim of this operation was to combat economic crime, including tobacco smuggling and other illegal activities.
