Digital Duel by NewsVibe. TOP 5 parties in the Romanian online space, in the last week

The electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections started a week ago. How has the buzz of electoral activity been reflected in the online space? According to data obtained with the help of NewsVibe, a platform for real-time monitoring of online conversations, as volume of online visibility, PSD continues to dominate the ranking of parties, followed by PNL. The next ranked - USR - is far behind the ruling coalition parties.
So, PSD, PNL and USR have maintained similar levels of visibility compared to those obtained in the week before the start of the electoral campaign, while AUR has seen a decrease (by more than 30%) and SOS Romania has seen an increase in the volume of mentions (which remains extremely low).
Top 5 parties by online visibility
- Social Democratic Party - 4,449 mentions
- National Liberal Party - 4,116 mentions
- Save Romania Union - 1,433 mentions
- Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor - 729 mentions
- SOS Romania - 171 mentions
Note - only mentions from relevant online and social media sources (sources validated by the NewsVibe platform)
Still noticeable, especially in recent days, is the similarity of the visibility curves online for PSD and PNL, which indicates that the two parties are in a direct dispute, but also that news about the relations in the governing coalition occupy an important place in the most relevant online sources.

In terms of impact of the mentions, there is an increase of those about USR and AUR, as in the previous analysis interval, while, percentage-wise, the impact of mentions about PSD and PNL decreases. SOS Romania remains far behind the rest of the competitors.

On the evolution over time of the impact of mentions about the parties, a correlation between PSD and PNL is also noticeable. On November 3, USR registers a peak in the impact of mentions, higher than for the other political actors - this coincides with the launch of USR's campaign program. However, for all parties, except PSD, the peak of impact is generated by the beginning of the parliamentary election campaign. For PSD, the spike in mentions is caused by an attack by Nicolae Ciucă on Marcel Ciolacu, after the PSD president claimed that he would like to have liberal Ilie Bolojan as a partner in government.

With regard to the increase in the rate of mentions, there was a major increase at the beginning of the interval for SOS Romania - this peak was generated by Diana Șoșoaca's intention to file a criminal complaint against the CCR judges, which is going to the Prosecutor General's Office, and by the publication by the BEC of the final lists of candidates for the parliamentary elections - at which time it was noted that SOS Romania has more candidates than parties such as PNL, USR or AUR.
