Although the last week has been marked by new political debates and even heightened tensions in the coalition, the evolution of the political parties included in the top was, for the most part, surprising. According to data analyzed using NewsVibe - AI's real-time media monitoring platform, compared to the previous period, PSD and USR saw moderate increases in the number of online mentions, while PNL saw a significant decrease, despite being in the government leadership. Decreases were also reported for the UDMR, but the sharpest decline was recorded by AUR.
Within the ruling coalition, new critical reactions have emerged from the PSD, targeting measures to reduce the deficit - on which the Government has committed its accountability in Parliament - but especially the suspension of funding for local projects carried out under the Anghel Saligny program.
Meantime, USR ministers and the party's president accompanied President Nicușor Dan on an official visit to Germany, a gesture that has generated new signs of discontent from the social democrats.
The pressure on the government, coming from the social area, was manifested by the protest organized on July 20 in Victory Square, but also by new announcements by trade unions in several areas on the preparation of protests or even strikes.
In the past week, the government has announced reform measures in the areas of health care and state-owned companies, and the ministers in charge have sent new signals about possible changes to special pensions.
In terms of digital exposure, compared with the previous week, the PNL fell by more than 50% and AUR by more than 60%, with the two parties recording the steepest declines.
Top 5 parties by online visibility
- PSD - 2,539 mentions
- PNL- 1,338 mentions
- USR - 1,100 mentions
- AUR - 235 mentions
- UDMR - 215 mentions
Note - only mentions from relevant online and social media sources (sources validated by the NewsVibe platform)
ComPARTIVE VISIBILITY AND IMPACT. The competitive analysis engine created by NewsVibe evaluates the strength of political actors to penetrate the online space, directly compared to their competitors.
While the total number of mentions of the parties was down from last week, their impact increased by an estimated 2 million views.
Both the volume and the impact of mentions of the ruling parties show an overwhelming ratio in favor of the opposition represented by AUR: 96% of all mentions are about the ruling coalition parties, and their impact amounts to about 95% of the total. Basically, the online sources with the highest public relevance pay marginal attention to AUR, which significantly reduces the visibility and media impact of the main opposition party.
It should also be noted that references to the PSD account for almost half of the mentions of all parties analyzed.

NETWORK ANALYSIS. The tool created by NewsVibe - semantic network analysis - uses advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to build maps of interactions that highlight: the central actors in a conversation, the connections between them, the groups (clusters) of topics, concepts and influencers (personalities and organizations) that have formed around an event, topic or idea.

What the analysis shows:
- There is a distinct area of discussion built around the PSD and (secondarily) the PNL, fueled by disputes over the suspension of funding for local projects run through the Anghel Saligny program. Within this segment, multiple connections with the Government appear, as well as with the names of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, PSD President Sorin Grindeanu and PSD Secretary General Paul Stănescu.
- USR generates a separate area of discussion, connected with Nicușor Dan, its own leaders and foreign policy issues. This delimitation was determined by the participation of several USR ministers and the party's president in Nicușor Dan's official visit to Germany.
- The area of discussion around AUR still remains a relatively isolated one, mainly focused on the name of George Simion and, secondarily, on the protests organized in Bucharest in the previous weekend.
SENTIMENT. The NewsVibe platform has created an advanced automated sentiment analysis system that uses specially trained AI algorithms and LLM tools to detect nuances of tone - favorable, unfavorable or neutral - in the context of references to entities relevant to an online conversation.

What the analysis shows:
- PSD, PNL, Ilie Bolojan and Government stand out among the terms that are particularly reflected in negative contexts, especially amid the tensions generated by the Social Democrats' discontent following the suspension of funding for projects carried out at local level through the Anghel Saligny program.
- Terms such as Romania, USR and Anghel Saligny also appear in positive contexts. In the case of USR, the favorable context was generated by the external actions of the ministers of this party, and in the case of the Anghel Saligny program, by the communication offensive of PSD, aimed at emphasizing the usefulness of the program for local communities.
- The positive connotations associated with the name Ceaușescu should also be noted, as it has benefited from media exposure in the context of the results of the INSCOP survey, which highlighted the positive assessment, by a high percentage of respondents, of the historical role of the communist dictator.
