The European Union has extended sanctions against 2600 Russians, after Hungary and Slovakia no longer opposed them.

The European Union has decided to extend the sanctions against individuals and entities supporting Russia's war in Ukraine for six months, a measure that was previously blocked by Hungary and Slovakia, which, however, no longer opposed it.

The EU Council announced that these restrictive measures, which target those responsible for threatening Ukraine's integrity, will be valid until September 15. In this action, sanctions have been lifted for two individuals, and five deceased individuals have been removed from the list.

Approximately 2600 individuals and entities are affected by measures such as travel restrictions and asset freezes.

Additionally, Hungary and Slovakia had previously requested the removal of some Russian oligarchs from the sanctions list, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called for the suspension of sanctions on Russian energy due to rising prices.
