The President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, stated that the European Union should expand to include approximately 40 European states, as well as some from outside the continent, such as Canada. Stubb emphasized that the EU's expansion has been the best European policy in history, mentioning that Europe's strategic autonomy depends on its size.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening relations with candidate countries, such as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Turkey, and the countries in the Western Balkans. Stubb pointed out that Europe's foreign policy must be active and dignified, considering the current geopolitical challenges, especially Russia's aggression.
He also emphasized the need for better organization in Europe to face external pressures, including those from the United States. Stubb participated in the Eurelectric Power Summit, where leaders from the energy industry discuss the future of energy systems.
