The National Meteorological Administration announced that 2025 was the fourth warmest year since 1901, with an average annual temperature of 11.95 degrees Celsius, exceeding the climatological average by 1.22 degrees. The period from 2012 to 2025 was the warmest in the history of meteorological measurements in Romania, with positive thermal deviations in nine months, the largest being recorded in January (+3.9 degrees) and March (+3.8 degrees).
The year was marked by severe drought, with seven dry months, June becoming the driest month in history, having only 18.9 mm of precipitation. The summer was the fourth driest, with average precipitation of 143.8 mm. In contrast, May 2025 was a rainy month, with 120.6 mm of precipitation, exceeding the monthly average. ANM issued 170 weather warnings, including 14 red codes, highlighting the intensification of extreme weather phenomena and their impact on society.
