Meteorologists announce that the polar vortex, a mass of cold air from the Arctic region, is moving towards Europe, which could lead to a significant drop in temperatures in the coming months. Usually, this phenomenon ensures weather stability in the cold season, but this year its structure has been weaker, favoring the migration of cold air towards mid-latitudes. According to Severe Weather Europe, the unusual evolution of the polar vortex could influence the weather not only in Europe but also in the USA and Canada in the winter of 2025–2026. A strong vortex retains cold air in the Arctic region, generating a milder winter in Europe, while a weak vortex can disrupt jet streams and allow cold air to penetrate southward, making the upcoming winter unpredictable.
