The Ministry of Environment announced that Romania has developed a solid and modern waste management system, based on digitalization, integrated policies, and tools such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the Deposit-Return System (SGR). This announcement was made during the OECD meeting on Resource Productivity and Waste, held in Paris. Romania was heard in the accession process, demonstrating compliance with OECD standards in waste management, including in the field of recycling and the control of cross-border waste transport.

The Romanian delegation, led by Secretary of State Raul Pop, emphasized the commitment to optimize national tools and improve inspection capacities. OECD officials appreciated Romania's progress, confirming its potential to contribute to international best practices in waste management.
