A real estate developer intends to build 25-story apartment blocks near the Petricani Meadow, a protected area. Recently, trees were cut down and soil drilling works began, and waste has reached the perimeter of the protected area. The mayor of Sector 2, Rareș Hopincă, confirmed that the landowners were fined for violating environmental legislation and have not received a building permit. The Petricani Meadow, protected since 2025, hosts remarkable biodiversity, including protected species. The NGO Bucharest Natural Park Association has alerted the authorities and requested verification of the legality of the works. The land, owned by Manochehr Saadati Sohi and others, received an urbanism certificate for a mixed-use complex, but without building rights. The mayor emphasized that no permit has been issued, and penalties for illegal deforestation and drilling have been applied.
