Researchers from Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine estimate that over 15,000 heat-related deaths in major European cities could be attributed to climate change. The analysis included 854 municipalities and suggests that 68% of the approximately 24,400 deaths associated with high temperatures are linked to this climatic factor. The most affected cities include Rome, Athens, and Paris, with the majority of victims being over 65 years old. The study highlights the severe impact of heatwaves and the need for preventive measures to protect vulnerable populations.
