USR sent a complaint to the Human Rights Commissioner, challenging the restrictions imposed by AEP on freedom of expression in the electoral campaign

USR MEPs Iulian Bulai and Oana Murariu have complained to the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, about the limitations imposed by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) on freedom of expression in the context of the presidential elections. The AEP has banned party members from expressing political views that differ from those of their party, which USR considers a serious violation of human rights. USR underlines that these restrictions affect democratic debate and calls for discussions with the Romanian authorities to ensure that electoral rules comply with fundamental rights.
