The UNITER Awards Gala 2026 took place on Monday, May 25, on the stage of the National Theatre in Bucharest, celebrating excellence in theatre through the recognition of the jury and the preferences of the audience. The online voting occurred between May 22 and 24, ensuring a real representation of the community of theatre lovers, with one vote per IP. Among the winners designated by popular vote are Tudor Chirilă, awarded as the best actor in a leading role, and Cătălina Mihai, the best actress in a leading role. Radu Afrim was awarded for best direction, and the show 'Metamorphosis' was declared the best performance. Other awards were given for the best dramatic texts, set design, original music, and video design, highlighting the diversity and talent in the Romanian theatrical scene.
