The vacancy rate in the European Union was 2% in the fourth quarter of 2025, remaining constant compared to the previous quarter, but decreasing from 2.3% in the same period of 2024, according to Eurostat. Romania reported the lowest vacancy rate at 0.6%, followed by Poland (0.7%) and Bulgaria (0.8%).
In contrast, the Netherlands had the highest rate at 3.9%. In the euro area, the rate increased to 2.2% compared to 2.1% in the previous quarter. Compared to 2024, the vacancy rate increased in six member states, remained stable in seven, and decreased in 14. In Romania, the number of job vacancies was 28,400, down by 3,300 compared to the previous quarter and by 5,900 compared to last year, with an estimated rate of 0.55%.
