The Minister of Tourism, Irineu Darău, emphasized the need for a serious discussion regarding the decrease in consumption and its impact on tourism, proposing measures to support the HoReCa sector.

He mentioned that he will present proposals to the Government for supporting Romanian tourism, including an incoming bonus to attract foreign tourists. Darău highlighted the difficulties faced by the sector during the pandemic and the impact of the VAT increase. He also announced the doubling of the tourism promotion budget and the official recognition of the Via Transilvaniei route as a symbol of Romanian tourism. The Ministry will implement digitalization measures and improve legislation to ensure fairness in the market, including for the registration of accommodation structures.
