Iulian Lolea, an economist at the Concordia Employers' Confederation, says the 15% tariffs imposed by the US on EU exports are affecting Romania, but the direct impact is limited as Romanian exports to the US account for less than 3% of the total. However, sectors producing electrical components, cars and steel products will suffer, as they account for more than 60% of exports to the US. The recent agreement between the EU and the US, although more favorable than previous proposals, will make European goods less competitive on the US market, thus affecting economic growth in the euro area and, implicitly, in Romania.
