Starting from October 1, 2025, the capping of the commercial markup for basic products will no longer be applied, allowing for price increases.

The government has decided not to extend the price cap on the commercial markup introduced by Emergency Ordinance 67/2023, which ends on September 30, 2025. Thus, from October 1, 2025, prices for basic products such as bread, milk, eggs, meat, sugar, and vegetables will be freely set by traders, depending on market costs. This temporary measure was intended to limit excessive price increases.
