The Competition Council has launched a study to identify dysfunctions in the pork meat sector that could affect competition and consumers. The study focuses on administrative limitations, regulations, and access to financing, which hinder the development of small and very small farms, as well as the entry of farmers and processors into the market. The president of the authority, Bogdan Chirițoiu, emphasized that the analysis will cover the entire production chain, from farm to retail, considering the increase in imports and the decrease in pork meat exports.

The Council will request information from companies and public institutions and invites producers and processors to contribute relevant data. In the end, recommendations will be issued to eliminate the identified problems, and any violations of the law will be sanctioned.
