Gabriel Biriș, a lawyer specialized in taxation, expressed concerns regarding the implementation of the e-property system in Romania, which aims to centralize information about real estate properties and reform the calculation of property taxes. During the TaxEU Forum event in Cluj-Napoca 2026, Biriș emphasized that, considering the failure of the notaries' grid, it is unlikely that a new system will function efficiently. He warned that e-property will generate chaos and litigation due to errors that will occur, given the significant variations in the market value of properties. He also mentioned that taxes on housing could increase excessively, which will bring unpredictability in costs for taxpayers. Biriș concluded that the current taxation system penalizes quality investments.
