At a meeting of science ministers, Minister Bae Kyung-hoon announced an ambitious investment plan in artificial intelligence, with a budget of $186.2 million, an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous year. The funds will be distributed to 33 government agencies and will support intergovernmental collaboration, including the provision of GPU units and data to promote the use of AI in the public sector.

Bae emphasized the need to accelerate measures for South Korea to become a global leader in artificial intelligence, considering the international competition. The ministry will select 28 new projects, focusing on building AI-based production infrastructure, including autonomous laboratories and production transformation facilities. These initiatives aim to strengthen the country's technological autonomy and industrial competitiveness.
