SoftBank announced that it has sold its entire stake in Nvidia, raising $5.83 billion from the sale of 32.1 million shares in October. Additionally, the company sold part of its stake in T-Mobile for $9.17 billion. SoftBank's Chief Financial Officer, Yoshimitsu Goto, stated that these sales are part of the strategy of "monetizing assets" to maintain the company's financial strength. SoftBank's Vision Fund was an early supporter of Nvidia, but the sale does not reflect concerns related to artificial intelligence valuations. SoftBank remains involved in artificial intelligence projects that utilize Nvidia technology, including a major project for data centers in the U.S. Analyst Rolf Bulk emphasized that SoftBank needs capital to finance investments, including $22.5 billion for OpenAI.
