The National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced a 34.2% increase in the volume of construction works in March 2026 compared to February, as a raw series.
However, as a seasonally adjusted series based on the number of working days and seasonality, the volume decreased by 1.1%. Compared to March 2025, the volume of construction works increased by 10.6%, and in the first quarter of 2026, the growth was 8.2% compared to the same period in 2025.
The increases were evident in maintenance and current repairs (+39.0%), new constructions (+36.1%) and capital repairs (+19.2%). By construction objects, engineering works increased by 43.9%, non-residential buildings by 32.4%, and residential ones by 14.7%. Seasonally adjusted, capital repair works decreased by 14.0%, while maintenance and new construction works increased by 4.4% and 0.4%.
Overall, INS data suggest a growth trend in the construction sector, with some fluctuations depending on the type of works.
