The authorities in Moscow have announced the imposition of restrictions on the export of kerosene for airplanes, the measure aiming to ensure stability in the domestic fuel market. This regulation will be in effect until November 30 and excludes quantities of kerosene already at customs or sent under bilateral agreements.
This is the first time Russia has imposed such restrictions, in the context of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries, which have led to a significant decrease in processing capacity. In Crimea, suppliers can only refuel with rationing cards. The impact on the global market is limited, with Russia holding a 2% share in this sector, and the main previous buyer being Turkey.
The increase in kerosene prices, caused by conflicts in the Middle East, has led airlines to abandon certain routes, and experts warn that further flight reductions will follow, affecting the availability of air travel and ticket prices for tourists.
