According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Romania's trade balance deficit (FOB/CIF) increased to nearly 24.5 billion euros in the first nine months of 2025, being over one billion euros higher (+4.3%) than in the same period last year. FOB exports totaled 72.2 billion euros, while CIF imports reached 96.7 billion euros, both recording a growth of 4.2%. The most important product groups in the structure of exports and imports are machinery and transport equipment, as well as other manufactured goods. Intra-EU27 exchanges accounted for 71.5% of total exports and 72.1% of total imports, while extra-EU27 exchanges had a share of 28.5% in exports and 27.9% in imports.
