Alexandru Nazare said that Romania's public debt is forecast to reach 60% of GDP by the end of the year, increasing by 20% in five years. Although European officials have asked for corrective measures, Romania has not responded to the requests, including the one in January. Nazare stressed that the fiscal-budgetary package has adverse effects on living standards and inflation, but is necessary to stabilize the economy and avoid a possible downgrading of the investment grade.
