According to data from the National Bank of Romania, external debt increased by €7.48 billion in the first half of 2025, reaching €212.37 billion. Long-term debt accounts for 76.3% of the total, while general government debt increased by EUR 6.48 billion. Although the NBR's external debt declined, the long-term debt service ratio was 15.5% and the import coverage ratio fell to 5.3 months.
