The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced that Romania is preparing to implement the National and Regional Partnership Plan (PPNR), which could bring approximately 70 billion euros from European funds. He emphasized that the development needs exceed this amount, which is why the ministry proposes a co-financing mechanism that could double the investment capacity, reaching over 140 billion euros in the period 2028-2034.
Pîslaru explained that of the total amount, 60 billion euros are allocated for national and regional priorities, and 10 billion euros for a competitiveness fund. He proposed a paradigm shift, suggesting a co-financing model in which every European euro is matched by one national euro and one euro from private investments. This would allow for a stable multiannual programming, essential to meet Romania's infrastructure and economic development needs.
The minister highlighted the importance of collaboration with the private sector to identify the necessary strategic investments, with the ultimate goal of a more competitive Romanian economy at the regional and European levels. Additionally, Pîslaru mentioned that next year, 2.62 billion euros are expected from the PNRR, which could provide a significant boost for investments.
