The Ministry of Finance announced that Romania has attracted approximately 4.7 billion euros from international financial markets through the first issuance of eurobonds in 2026, carried out on February 25. This operation took place before the escalation of the conflict in Iran, thus avoiding an increase in financing costs. The demand for Romanian bonds was very high, exceeding 15.5 billion euros, which allowed for more favorable financing conditions, with lower interest rates than initially estimated.

Romania issued a tranche of 2.25 billion EUR for 7 years, a tranche of 2 billion USD for 10 years, and 750 million EUR for the reopening of an issuance maturing in 2044. The funds raised will be used to finance the budget deficit, refinance older loans, and strengthen financial reserves. The transaction was intermediated by international banks, confirming the diversified interest in Romanian government securities. The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, emphasized the success of the issuance as a sign of investor confidence in the Romanian economy.
