OpenAI, the company known for developing ChatGPT, intends to double its number of employees, increasing from approximately 4,500 to 8,000 by 2026, according to a report by the Financial Times.
The company plans to hire most of the new employees in areas such as product development, engineering, research, and sales. Additionally, OpenAI is ramping up its recruitment of specialists in 'technical ambassador' roles aimed at helping companies use its tools more effectively.
Recently, OpenAI was valued at approximately $840 billion, following a funding round of $110 billion, which involved major companies from the technology sector.
In a competitive context, CEO Sam Altman issued an internal warning, suspending non-essential projects to accelerate the development of the company's technologies, in response to the threat posed by Google's Gemini 3 model.
