The National Bank of Romania has revised upwards its inflation forecast for the end of 2024, estimating a level of 4.9%.

<p>The revision of the inflation forecast is justified by the base effects associated with past developments, such as the removal of indirect tax increases from the calculation of the annual inflation rate. NBR Governor Mugur Isărescu warned that the November-December evolution is generated by both exogenous factors and drought.
