On Monday morning, the gold spot price increased by 1.6%, reaching $4,666.65 per ounce, after hitting a historic high of $4,689.39. This increase was influenced by recent statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced the imposition of an additional 10% tariff on goods from several European countries, starting February 1. The tariff could rise to 25% from June 1 if an agreement regarding Greenland is not reached. The geopolitical tensions generated by these threats have led investors to seek refuge in gold, yen, and Swiss francs. Analyst Matt Simpson from StoneX highlighted that these events could lead to the destabilization of NATO and political imbalances in Europe. Additionally, the silver spot price rose by 4%, reaching $93.50 per ounce, after hitting a new historic high of $94.08.
