The Fidelis government bonds, issued by the Ministry of Finance, debuted on the Bucharest Stock Exchange on May 21.

In May, the Ministry managed to attract 716.8 million lei, of which 297.5 million lei for the issues in lei and 80.5 million euros for those in euros, through the fifth primary offer for the sale of government bonds to the public. The offer was conducted between May 8 and 15 and was intermediated by a syndicate of banks, including BT Capital Partners and Banca Comercială Română. Romanians placed 9,613 subscription orders. Since the beginning of the offer in August 2020, the Ministry has attracted 68.7 billion lei (13.8 billion euros) from the public. The interest rates for the FIDELIS V edition range between 6.40% and 7.50% for the issues in lei and between 4% and 6.25% for those in euros.

Income from interest and capital gains is not taxable, and investments are open to individuals over 18 years old.
