The EU plans to communicate proposed measures for additional tariffs on US products to member states in the coming weeks. The consultations will last about a month, and the list of products covered could change. The European commission will table proposals to reduce trade barriers and try to boost negotiations with the US, which have made modest progress. The tariffs announced by the US will remain in place, while the EU will extend existing measures, targeting goods worth a total of €549bn.
