Electrica has announced its intention to acquire Distribuție Energie Oltenia, in the context of the failed negotiations between Macquarie and Engie for the sale of the company. The Romanian company, which already operates in three of the eight distribution areas in Romania, will not face competition issues, as energy distribution is a natural monopoly. Electrica will convene an Extraordinary General Assembly to approve the initiation of the acquisition procedures, with a ceiling of up to 1 billion EUR for the period 2025-2027.
