EcoFin will analyze on Friday the finding that Romania has not respected its commitments to reduce the budget deficit and is in excessive deficit procedure. Romania has until June 30 to send its budgetary adjustment measures to Brussels. A favorable EcoFin assessment on July 8 could improve Romania's standing with rating agencies. Talks between political parties on forming a new government and setting the necessary measures have stalled, in particular on the VAT hike.
