The US Department of Defense will become the largest shareholder in MP Materials, investing billions of dollars in a long-term partnership. The deal aims to accelerate the development of a complete supply chain for magnetic rare earths in the US, reducing dependence on foreign sources. Production would begin in 2028, serving both the defense sector and private-sector customers such as General Motors.
