CFR Călători warns the Ministry of Transport about the risk of default, which could lead to the stoppage of passenger traffic. The crisis is caused by insufficient compensation for public transportation and falling revenues. The company has monthly obligations of 365 million lei, and only 50 million lei in ticket revenues. Preparing rolling stock for the summer season is becoming impossible, and CFR Călători points out that it is in danger of being unable to fulfill its public service obligations.
