Canada is prepared to become the host of a new multilateral defense bank, called the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB), which will facilitate access to funding for defense projects. The Canadian Ministry of Finance announced that negotiations for the establishment of the bank took place in Montreal, with international partners.
The institution, proposed by former NATO advisors and military officials, aims to attract up to £100 billion to support defense projects in countries facing financial difficulties. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne expressed support for the initiative, considering it essential in the context of geopolitical tensions.
However, the United Kingdom and Germany have distanced themselves from the project, promoting alternative solutions. The bank collaborates with major financial institutions, such as JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank, to gain credibility and financial support.
This initiative could become a key instrument for strengthening global security.
