European Brent crude oil ended its third week on the rise, reaching 77 dollars a barrel, its highest level in five months. Tensions in the Middle East, including the risks of conflict between the US and Iran, have pushed up the price of oil and natural gas. Although Iran is maintaining its crude oil exports, the EU is vulnerable in natural gas deliveries, with 4% of it coming from Qatar through the Strait of Hormuz. Natural gas prices have hit 40 euros/MWh, the highest level in ten weeks, and traders remain on alert.
