The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has announced a revision of the inflation forecast for the end of 2026, increasing it from 5.5% to 6.1%. Governor Mugur Isărescu explained that this adjustment is due to the impact of the heatwave and drought on electricity production and the energy situation in Romania.

Although the forecast has increased, BNR anticipates a rapid decrease in inflation in the last months of the year, with a significant reduction in the annual rate. It also mentioned an increase in fuel prices, which contribute 1.1 percentage points to the final inflation of 6.1%.
