Blue Origin, the space company founded by Jeff Bezos, plans to raise approximately 10 billion dollars in its first round of funding from external investors, valuing the company at 130 billion dollars. Jeff Bezos will personally contribute 2 billion dollars, and the Coatue Management fund will invest 4 billion dollars.
The funding round comes after the successful listing of SpaceX, which raised nearly 86 billion dollars.
Bezos previously mentioned that the time is right to bring in new investors to Blue Origin.
The company, founded in 2000, competes with SpaceX in the field of heavy rockets and satellite internet, but faces challenges, including a recent explosion of the New Glenn rocket during a test.
