According to INS data, the average gross salary in Romania reached 9,078 lei in September 2025, recording an increase of 76 lei (+0.8%) compared to August 2025. However, the real wage index was 94.7% compared to September 2024, indicating a slight decrease in real incomes. The highest salaries were observed in the extraction of oil and natural gas (12,433 lei) and in information technology (12,136 lei), while the lowest were in hotels and restaurants (3,383 lei) and the clothing industry (3,446 lei).

Seasonal variations influence salaries, with increases recorded due to bonuses and incentives. The most significant increases were in financial activities (+16.4%) and oil extraction (+14%). Other fields, such as telecommunications and ancillary extraction services, had increases between 7% and 8.5%. However, some sectors recorded decreases due to the absence of bonuses or reduced collections.

INS emphasizes that the evolution of real wage earnings depends on nominal incomes and inflation, and compared to October 1990, the real wage index has increased by 238%, but the growth rate has slowed compared to previous years.
